Suhot Cave and Spring

A natural spring and a series of caves situated on the foot of Mount Pangin-raon capture the attention of travelers in search for offbeat destinations. A far-flung town 35 kilometers off the progressive Roxas City called Dumalag prides of an attraction famed among locals and many Capiznons from neighboring towns, but remain a mystery to tourists.

Most travelers from Roxas City bound for Iloilo runs through the landlocked town of Dumalag which rests quietly on borders of Capiz and Iloilo. Often overlooked by passers by is the town’s scenic attraction, Suhot Spring & Caves, which is tucked 1.5 kilometers from the town proper, and hindered from sight by the lush greens scouring the foot the mountains.

The cool and crisp waters of Suhot Spring flows from the 430-m high Mt. Pangin-raon to a natural pool. Balusters and cemented staircase were installed to ensure safety of visitors who frequents Dumalag’s nature destination mostly during weekends, holiday and summer vacations. Vacationers indulge in the government-owned resort to seek refuge in this sanctuary envelope in grandeur and peacefulness (probably during weekdays when no one else is around).

Mantalinga Island

A kilometer away from the shoreline of Baybay Beach, Roxas City, it has been identified by the Department of Tourism as an ideal spot for scuba divers and a perfect rotunda for sailboat (dilayag) and kayaking contest. Recently named "Good Luck Island" by DOT consultants, the place is believed by local fisher folks as source of luck when names of their fish boats are written on the sides of the island before it goes fishing for the first time.

Cadimahan River Tour

Roxas City - During his recent visit to his hometown, BFC Business Development Officer-Philippines, Mr. Bobby B. Calimoso together with his wife Liv and kids Eurielle & CK was invited by Vice Mayor Ronnie T. Dadivas to an afternoon of cruise along Cadimahan river one of the newest eco-tourism attractions in the City of Roxas.

The Cadimahan River Tour was conceptualized to provide livelihood to marginalized fisherfolks that have been displaced with the implementation of the Cadimahan River Rehabilitation Project.

During the 2.3 kilometer cruise that last for two hours, Mr. Bobby B. Calimoso and family was given the opportunity to see various model raft and traditional fishing gears; mangrove species and even marine lives present at the Cadimahan River.

While on board the MB Vice, they were treated to a Filipino massage or a foot spa massage while listening to folks songs being rendered by a local singer. Thereafter take a sip of the ginger, pandan leaves, lemon grass (GPLT) concoction for cleansing that was developed by the locales.

It was a memorable and exciting experience for the kids too who were able to catch a couple of big mangagats or red snappers during their fishing and boating excursion with their dad who surprisingly was not able to catch any fish.

Vice Mayor Ronnie T. Dadivas said that decades ago, this river is infamously known as a river clogged with illegal structures and other waste. Now, the scenario is altogether different and Cadimahan River Tour is a must visit for tourist, the locals and foreigners alike.

Cadimahan River is about 68 hectares spanning barangays Culasi, Libas, Baybay, Dayao and Tanque. It is the biggest river out of the 16 river systems present in the province of Capiz. In an effort to support the alternative livelihood for fisherfolks along the Libotong-Cadimahan River, the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines Capiz Chapter thru its President, Vice Mayor Ronnie T. Dadivas donated to the Lawis Baybay Small Fisherfolk Association of Roxas City (LABSFAR) a floating raft (MB Vice) in order to promote eco-tourism which has emerge as one of the few economic alternatives that will bring in socio-economic development.

Mr. Bobby Calimoso is best remembered in the City of Roxas and the Province of Capiz as instrumental partner of Vice Mayor Ronnie T. Dadivas who brought The Dream Game - Charity Event 2009, a basketball exhibition game between two of the PBA’s most popular teams, the Sta. Lucia Realtors and Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants in Roxas City for a cause. To raise funds for the SPED Class of PMRMS – a simple way to make a difference in the lives of the special and less fortunate children of Roxas City.
